Successful container growing will come from using a potting soil that is correctly pH balanced for the plants you intend to grow and continues to remain at the right pH to optimize growth.

Starting with healthy plants for container growing is a known fact, but did you know that not all potting mixes or potting soils are created equal? Nor are they always suitable for the crop you intend to grow. The pH of the potting soil is crucial to how successful your container plants will grow.

For large container nurseries that need to maximise the amount of healthy saleable stock at spring time, starting off with potting soil at the right pH for the plant is vital. Bluelab soil meters give you the ability to check on a regular basis (and before planting) that the pH balance is right to ensure your plants can take up the expensive fertilizers you are feeding them.

Is the fertilizer you are using affecting the pH balance? Is the water you are irrigating with too alkaline or acidic? What pH does this plant need to grow to its optimum?
